# SREL Patent License Commitment

**Effective date:** Upon issuance of any patent on applications disclosing the SREL specification.

**Inventor:** Timothy Poschel

---

The inventor commits, conditional upon issuance of any patent on the applications listed below, to grant a **royalty-free, world-wide, non-exclusive, irrevocable license** under any claim of the issued patent that would necessarily be infringed by implementing the Semantic Risk Exchange Language (SREL) specification as published at https://srel.net — solely to the extent necessary to implement, validate, transport, or consume SREL-conformant documents.

## Scope

This commitment covers:

- Parsing SREL documents against the normative ABNF grammar
- Validating structural and semantic conformance of SREL documents
- Generating SREL-conformant documents
- Transporting SREL documents between systems
- Ingesting SREL documents into downstream model risk management, monitoring, or remediation systems

## Exclusions

This commitment **does not extend** to claims directed to:

- The geometric risk-scoring methodology (n-simplex decomposition, shadow simplex construction, capability normalizer, multiplicative product-form aggregation, modal register stratification, compositional-periodic decomposition, transcendental meta-condition veto layer, or any related scoring method) from which the SREL format derives.
- Any implementation of the scoring methodology itself, as distinguished from the structured output format it produces.

The scope of this commitment is the interchange standard, not the engine.

## Format

This commitment is intended to satisfy the IPR disclosure requirements of the IETF (RFC 8179) and the W3C Patent Policy, such that SREL may be adopted as an open standard without encumbrance on the format implementation.
